ALVIN, Texas (FinalCall.com) - Situated on over 10 acres of land is the farm owned and managed by Believers of the Nation of Islam's Muhammad Mosque No. 45 in Houston. The gated property has a two-story home, nearly a dozen cows, baby calves, several dozen chickens, a bull, a horse, milking machines, a fishing pond, and a view as far as the eye can see.

What makes this so special? You can ask any Believer in Houston and immediately they will tell you this is fulfilling the instructions of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad as taught by the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan: “We must have some of this earth to call our own.”

“Welcome to 45 Farms,” said Kelvin Muhammad to everyone who attended a June 1 ‘Family Day’ at the farm. He manages the farm full-time with his wife, Sister Yolanda. “We are happy to have everyone here to show you what your support has allowed us to do. Allah is truly blessing our efforts.”

The event was tied to several goals of the Ministry of Agriculture plotted out over the next several months. The farm is presently producing and selling raw milk, butter and eggs with a Muslim Farmer’s Market in the developmental stages. One of the cows recently gave birth to two calves and many are investing in expansion of the land.

A great accomplishment also included the acquisition of a lamb for Jr. Fruit of Islam Stephen Muhammad, who attends Stafford High School. He needed the lamb to be an active member of the Future Farmers of America Society and now tends to the animal every week as a part of his project.

“I am grateful to the believers for supporting me in my endeavor to be a farmer,” said Bro. Stephen at the close of the Sunday mosque meeting on June 15.
