Texas Business Alliance (TBA) is on a fast track to deliver on its mission to equip minority- and women-owned businesses to be qualified suppliers, ready to compete for public, private and international opportunities through progressive development, and specialized training.
The organization is now preparing for the One Woman™ National Business Conference to take place on August 6-8, 2009 in Houston, Texas at the Omni Hotel Galleria.
The event will be headlined by Comedian and Businesswoman Joan Rivers at the Soaring Heights Saturday Awards Brunch. Rivers recently won Donald Trump’s “Celebrity Apprentice” reality television program.
“Using her unique gifts of humor, compassion and tenacity, Joan Rivers has triumphed over personal tragedy and attained extraordinary professional success,” said TBA Founder and CEO Jeffrey L. Boney.
“Who better to talk about reinventing themselves and surviving in business through recessions and adversity than Joan!”, he said.
Another headliner will be CNN Analyst Jamal Simmons, who will co-moderat a Friday evening mixer along with KHOU-TV “Great Day Houston” host Deborah Duncan. It will feature a light-hearted panel discussion regarding the hazards of entrepreneurial relationships themed “He’s Just Not That Into You!”
One Woman™ is a signature business development program of TBA and is designed to be a life-changing experience. It is a gathering of women from all walks of life, backgrounds and perspectives. “Changing the Face of Business One Woman at a Time” – the One Woman™ theme – is meant to highlight the power in a united women’s network and shared determination to succeed in business. Their intent is to harness that power during One Woman™ with a dynamic program meant to engage, educate, inform and inspire.
They are expected to unite 50 acclaimed presenters and more than 500 women (and men) entrepreneurs and corporate executives at the Omni Houston Hotel.
TBA recently attracted the attention and support of Senator Mary L. Landrieu (D-La) and Senator Olympia J. Snowe (R-Maine). Landrieu and Snowe co-chair the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship which oversees the Small Business Administration. The senators will serve as co-chairs of the One Woman™ National Business Conference.
