Pastor Rudy Rasmus of St. John's UMC Church Speaks on Brother Jesse

"I first met Brother Jesse with his mother in 1995 who at the time was a member of St. John’s Downtown where I serve as pastor. His mother would bring her children to church with her.

Upon meeting Jesse I knew immediately that there was something different and intense about this young man. I later discovered he was not only brilliant but was also determined to reverse the conditions that had negatively affected his family throughout his childhood.

I have witnessed Brother Jesse put his message to work in his own life throughout the years and has proven to be a natural leader. Over the years I have watched Brother Jesse serve his community and the world through a variety of high impact events ranging from providing support to victims of Hurricane Katrina to providing significant organizational support during the community response during the Jena 6 incident. Brother Jesse is clearly a leader for now and the future of our community."
