Why didn't the media report this Stop the Violence Rally in Newark? Don't worry, The Final Call Newspaper will!

I received an email from Final Call Staff Writer Saeed Shabazz, who is based in New York, about a massive Stop the Violence Rally that took place in Newark, New Jersey on August 5. Well, they shut down a major intersection.

According to Bro. Saeed in his email "hundreds of protesters and activists including the Nation of Islam stopped traffic for at least two hours in downtown Newark to protest the spike in street violence and the alleged intransigence by the administration of Mayor Cory Booker."

He also stated that "the drive-by killing of a mother of two children, Naksia Allen on July 20 set off the movement to shut down one of the biggest intersections on the East Coast at rush hour. The New Black Panther Party pulled this together."

Be sure to look for extensive coverage by Bro. Saeed on this rally in an upcoming edition of the Final Call Newspaper. All photos are courtesy of James Morgan of Howard University.
