Happy Saviours' Day! I am writing this blog from Rosemont, IL on the anniversary of the birth of Master Fard Muhammad, the founder of the Nation of Islam.
My family and I arrived here safely on Wednesday. We got on the hotel shuttle and all of a sudden snow started dropping like crazy! Don't laugh at me. Remember we are from Texas and even though we got a few days of snow in Houston within the last few months, it pales in comparison to this.
But you know I could not let this moment go by without going outside to take pictures. I am going to put this Canon EOS 40D to work all weekend! Here are a few shots I got of the snow.
On Thursday, my Saviours' Day 2010 kicked off with participation in the annual I-Nation Media Training seminar led by Nisa Islam Muhammad of The Final Call Newspaper. I presented about blogging and the power of other social medias. Sister Nisa spoke on the history of The Final Call newspaper and Jay Delai of Charlotte presented on strategies to penetrate the radio industry. We then divided into teams to work on projects! Great experience.
Also, you can see more photos in my Facebook Saviours' Day 2010 Photojournalism albums.
Time to get ready for today's workshop schedule! More updates to come!
P.S. I picked up my personal copy of the Final Call Newspaper's Saviours' Day 2010 Commemorative Edition. It's 40 pages of full color! If you're here, you definitely need to pick up your copy.
