We are all Oscar Grant.
I was at a school play last night when I received a text message alerting me that the jury in Los Angeles convicted former San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police officer Johannes Mehserle of involuntary manslaughter in the shooting death of an unarmed Black man, Oscar Grant. Involuntary manslaughter generally carries a sentence of two to four years and sentencing is expected to take place August 6.
In the video above Student Minister Keith Muhammad, the Oakland representative of the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, addresses the media immediately after the verdict.
"Be crystal clear, we are not satisfied. Be crystal clear, God is not satisfied....Look at how justice has been compromised," said Minister Keith.
In addition below is a video clip of Ms. Wanda Johnson, the mother of Oscar Grant, addressing the media as well.
