A Must See! Political MC, Jasiri X, heading to Minneapolis to perform and present at the annual Netroots Nation conference

The country's leading political MC, Jasiri X, is traveling to Minneapolis, Minnesota this week to perform and present at the nation's largest conference of political progressives and online activists, Netroots Nation.

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, Jasiri X will present videos from his acclaimed DVD American History X, followed by commentary and a question and answer session. Jasiri X graciously accepted a scholarship from Democracy for America to defray cost associated in participating in this influential conference.

On Friday, June 17, 2011, Jasiri X is headlining a fundraiser for Centro de Trabajadores Unidos en Lucha (CTUL). CTUL is an organization where workers fuse to become the unified voice in our workplaces leading the struggle against the unchecked general disrespect that can lead to unfair wages and unacceptable working conditions.

With the help of CTUL, workers who clean Cub Foods stores have repeatedly tried to engage Cub Foods in dialogue about fair wages and working conditions for over a year. Also, with the help of CTUL, workers went on a Hunger Strike for 12 days in May in further efforts to seek a dialogue. Now the parent company of Cub Foods, SuperValu, has responded by suing CTUL and its organizers personally. This concert will raise both money and awareness earmarked to aid CTUL and its organizers in defending themselves against SuperValu’s lawsuit and to provide further support to the movement for workplace fairness that CTUL has been leading.

Jasiri X is the creative force and artist behind the ground breaking internet news series, This Week with Jasiri X, which has garnered critical acclaim, thousands of subscribers and millions of internet views. Several of his most controversial and popular videos to date are captured on his debut DVD, American History X. Jasiri X continues to travel the world opening minds via performances and his innovative workshop, How to Succeed in Hip-Hop Without Selling Your Soul. Netroots Nation attendees will get a chance to view and discuss three of Jasiri X's most thought provoking videos: "What if the Tea Party Was Black," "Republican Woman" and "Afghanistan (Herstory)."

I have mad respect for this brother and that's why he has appeared on my blog more than any other Hip Hop artist. Wherever he's performing or speaking, get there. You will thank me later! Download his music and videos at: http://jasirix.com
