I didn't make it out to Los Angeles, but on the night of July 9 I watched via UStream as Black social media history was made. The owners of the Black Weblog Awards held their first live awards gala to honor top Black bloggers. The star-studded event was hosted by Kim Coles and Rene Syler to close out the 2011 Blogging While Brown Conference. They did a wonderful job hosting the event and it was funny from start to finish. I want to personally congratulate all of the nominees, finalists and winners! It's always a joyous thing to see our people come together, show love and reward one another for hardwork. A big shoutout to the staff at the BWB Conference for pulling off a historic occasion. My friend Kimberly Ellis aka Dr. Goddess killed it in her performances. And I must acknowledge Angel Laws of ConcreteLoop.com, who was presented with a major achievement award. Her new book on blogging success is awesome. (I will finished it and will be writing a review on that soon!)

Because of the support of some many, I was blessed to be a finalist in three categories this year (Microblog, Best Faith Blog, & Best News/Political Blog). I didn't win but hey it was the bomb seeing and hearing my name called across my laptop screen plus Ms. Syler mentioned my live tweeting over the microphone! So thank you to my readers! Because of you I had the honor of winning three awards in 2009 (including Blog of the Year) and made the finals in 2010 and 2011. It's only motivation to keep serving you.
