Reflecting on the life of Martina Correia; Memorial Services to take place in Savannah

Martina Davis-Correia, sister of Troy Davis, made her transition on last week. I first read the news via Twitter. I then received confirmation from their sister Kimberly when I called Martina's phone. This was and is very sad news. I built a tight working relationship with her via phone over the past three plus years during many interviews about her brother's case for The Final Call Newspaper. We finally met in person for the first time at Troy Davis' memorial services in September. It was a moment I will never forget because she was a woman I truly admired. The last time I spoke to her was in November and she told me "Get ready to get back writing Brother Jesse. We're about to crank it back up and work to clear my brother's name." I told her "I'm ready!" She also told me how her health wasn't getting better but she said she would continue to fight on. Despite battling breast cancer for years, Martina NEVER stopped fighting for her brother. What a warrior she was. Martina will be missed. Prayers go out to her son De'Juan and the entire family.

I spoke with Kim and she told me the services for Martina in Savannah, GA will be: Memorial Services Friday, December 9 at New Life Apostolic Church (2120 West Bay Street) from 6-8:00PM. The Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, December 10 at Temple of Glory (1105 Stiles Avenue at 11:00AM.
