I have to admit, the Feb. 14 annual Saviours' Day Gift Web-A-Thon got us all amped for the upcoming Saviours' Day Convention to be held in Rosemont, IL on Feb. 24-25. The convention closes out with a keynote from the Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan at the United Center in Chicago on Feb. 26. Last night was in honor of his 57 years of unwavering service to Black people and humanity. Yes, 57 years!
Every year members of the Nation of Islam and close friends and supporters of Minister Farrakhan show our love, appreciation, and gratitude for his service by making a contribution, which helps him to continue to carry on the mission of the Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad.
The annual Web-A-Thon is the brainchild of National Student Secretary Berve Muhammad, who always gives proper credit to the tech team in Chicago who is working behind the scenes to make the event possible from start to finish. Along with Bro. Berve, speakers for the public webcast from Mosque Maryam in Chicago included Student Minister & National Assistant Ishmael Muhammad, Student National M.G.T.-G.C.C. Captain Sandy Muhammad, and Student Asst. Minister Jeffrey Muhammad.

"We thank you Brother Minister. Today, we have much to be grateful for," said Sister Sandy.
Then various cities were broadcasted live to announce how much they raised for the Saviours' Day Gift for the night.
The cities included St. Louis, Miami, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Houston, Seattle, and of course Chicago. Even the students of Muhammad University of Islam in Chicago made a contribution! The grand total announced in support of Minister Farrakhan was $715,560 and counting!
Another exciting part of the Web-A-Thon was the Old School versus New School Drill-Off Competition where in young brothers under the age of 30 squared off against the more seasoned veterans. It was dynamic and the New School finished victorious. The final portion of the program was a video presentation regarding the scheduled reopening of the Salaam Restaurant on 79th Street in the Windy City. (See photos here)
The 2012 Saviours' Day convention marks the 82nd year of the Nation of Islam's existence in North America. Each year, to commemorate the birth of its founder Master W. Fard Muhammad (February 26, 1877), thousands of members and supporters of the Nation of Islam from around the world make the journey to attend the annual convention during the last week of February for a weekend of fellowship, networking, information dissemination and spiritual renewal.
We invite everyone to join us for the 2012 Saviours' Day Convention. It is NOT just for members of the Nation of Islam. Get more information @ http://noi.org/sd2012/ or click below.
