A Learning Experience: Students of The Elevated Places on the set of Great Day Houston with Deborah Duncan

On July 19, students from The Elevated Places School were audience guests on the set of Great Day Houston hosted daily by Deborah Duncan. The excelling year-round school is located in Missouri City, Texas. Durce Muhammad and myself escorted them to the KHOU Channel 11 studio to witness firsthand the behind the scenes work it takes to do one segment of the show. Ms. Duncan and others were very impressed with the group and she even stayed back after the show to do a Q & A with them. The students also presented her with a bag that included products made by them, such as Thy Kingdom Come soap. Following the Q&A, one of the producers took us all on a tour through the station. They, I mean WE, learned a lot! One student told me, "I now know what it takes just to do the weather. It's not as easy as it looks."

  1. Wonderful exposure and experience for these students. Out of this kind of experience may come one who desires to work in the field. That young talent has to be nurtured as soon as its identified. Students look great!
