Attorney Benjamin Hall files for Houston Mayor's Race to challenge Annise Parker

(Blogger's Note: My readers know I rarely post articles regarding political races, but this is a race that I am definitely interested in that is about to get heated in my city. This a release from the latest candidate to throw his hat into the race on January 16.)

Today, businessman and attorney Benjamin L. Hall, III filed an Appointment of Campaign Treasurer form with the Houston City Secretary. This filing is a necessary first step to launch Hall’s mayoral campaign.

Hall stated, “I am taking this necessary legal step to serve this great city as mayor. I am pleased that Reverend Bill Lawson and Former District Judge Alvin Zimmerman have agreed to serve as co-treasurers for the campaign. They bring instant credibility and moderation to a campaign that will include everyone. “Hall for All!” is our goal and plan.”

Businessman and Former State District Judge Alvin Zimmerman and Reverend William “Bill” Lawson, Pastor Emeritus of Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church, shall serve as respective treasurers on Hall’s formal filings. Lawson and Zimmerman allowed the following joint statement, “We have been impressed with Ben’s demonstrated broadmindedness and inclusion of all people for as long as we have known him, and we are honored to have been asked to serve in any capacity in his mayoral run. His decision to choose both of us who come from different political perspectives is testament to his ability to unite people.”

In thanking Lawson and Zimmerman for their services, Hall stated, “By selecting these two pillars in our community, I intend to signal an aggressive intention to applaud our diversity and differences as strengths in our city and not weaknesses. United we are stronger! Our diversity is a great asset.”

Hall also released a letter by Mayor Bob Lanier commending Hall for exemplary services as the Houston City Attorney under the Lanier administration.
