The Ascension of Hip-Hop Begins: The People's MC Jasiri X releases long-awaited album

by Brother Jesse Muhammad

I can't stop listening to it....Outside of recent lectures by Minister Farrakhan, this is the only album you'll hear playing in my Samsung Galaxy right now....I've been waiting on this for a few years...And it's finally here: Jasiri X's latest album "Ascension" released on March 26.

I'm in the midst of wrapping up my official review, so consider this my pre-review. (smile) My actual first-ever album review was for his first release "American History X" back in 2010, so I am looking forward to delving into this one.

"More than a political album, I see this as a spiritual album. If Hip-Hop is dead, like Nas famously said, where do it go? Does it go to Heaven or Hell? I hope to help take Hip-Hop up, to a higher place spiritually and lyrically," wrote Jasiri X in a blog on BlackYouthProject.com. "All that’s left is for you to hear and tell me what you think. I hope you like it"

I know I do! Well, let me get back to finishing this review. Until then, I encourage everyone to support Jasiri X and purchase "Ascension." Trust me, you'll thank me later!

"Ascension" is now available in all digital retailers. The album features Brother Ali & Rhymefest and is produced entirely by Rel!g!on.
