National Black United Front's 34th Annual National Convention in Dallas welcomes Africans from around the world

(Source: dallasnbuf.com) From Thursday, July 11 through Sunday, July 14, 2013 The National Black United Front (NBUF) will hold its 34th Annual National Convention in Dallas, Texas.

The theme of this years convention is: Africans Must Unite At Home and Abroad; Revisiting The Principles of Pan-Africanism.

Special guests and presentors include: The Honorable Samia Yaba Christina Nkrumah (Ghana, West Africa) National Chairwoman of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Daughter of Osageyfo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, First President of Ghana. Dr. Jeremiah Wright, Jr., (Chicago, Illinois) Board Trustee Kwame Nkrumah Academy, Pastor Emeritus, Trinity UCC Ms. Eryka Baydu (Dallas, Texas) Four time Grammy Award winner, international Hip-Hop and R&B star The Honorable Cynthia McKinney (Atlanta, Georgia) Former Congresswoman from Atlanta, GA, international human rights activist Dr. Ray Winbush (Baltimore, Maryland) Professor Morgan State University, nationally acclaimed author and scholar Local and regional representatives from over 50 African and Caribbean organizations will participate in this historic gathering.

Also joining the participants will be scholarly grassroots organizers and NBUF activist from across the country who work in the areas of social justice,spirituality and political/economic issues.

The convention will kick off with a FREE Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, July 11 at 7:00pm at St. Luke “Community” United Methodist Church 5710 E. RL Thornton Freeway, Dallas Texas 75223. Dr. Jeremiah Wright will deliver the keynote address on the subject of “Spirituality As A Tool for African Liberation”. Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, Pastor of Friendship West Baptist Church will convene an esteemed local, national and international panel representing multiple faith traditions and spiritual paths in the African world.

On Friday and Saturday the site of the Convention will move to The Black Academy of Arts and Letters (TBAAL) Dallas Convention Center Theater Complex 650 S. Griffith St., Dallas, Texas 75202. Two days of workshops addressing important issues facing Africans around the world will be presented. On Saturday night , July 13 The Honorable Samia Nkrumah will deliver the keynote address at the NBUF National Banquet.
